We Bearcats have been hard at work this semester creating the design for our solar car. As of now, we are on a second iteration, developed through multiple design reviews and presentations.
After many months of design edits, our Senior mechanical engineering technology students presented their component designs earlier today to their faculty advisors, a major stepping stone in the design process. The major elements of the design have been solidified. The car will be a steel tube frame with 4 square meters of silicon solar cells, a 3.9 kWh LiFePO4 battery, and twin 2,000 W hub motors with regenerative braking capability. Our present focus is on integrating the subsystems so they come together cohesively. This has been a challenge, but we are working through it and are looking forward to starting fabrication in the Spring semester. We are ready to purchase parts for our car, which of course gets expensive quickly. We need your help to fund this vehicle and to make our design a reality. Our Sponsorship tab has all of our donation materials, including how you can contribute to our Adopt-A-Cell campaign through our GoFundMe page.

We had a great time with Green Energy Ohio this past week on their tour across Ohio! We were able to speak with visitors to the Cincinnati Zoo, as well as other presenting organizations and companies. It was a wonderful (but somewhat rainy) day, and we were able to tour some amazing cars including the Tesla Model Y (with full self driving), Porshe Taycan, and Polestar. It was wonderful being able to talk to visitors about our current design and work so far and build support for the team. At Melink, we were able to network with some amazing companies and people in the renewable energy and EV industry. We would like to thank everyone for their hard work in putting together such a great event!
